About Us
Sydenham Baptist Church is located in the western suburbs of Melbourne, and aims to equip people to become committed followers of Jesus Christ.
We offer a place to connect with other people and develop life-long friendships, as well as a place to connect with God.
Everyone is welcome!
We run programs for all ages and stages of life, from babies right through to those blessed with the wisdom of age, as well as our regular Sunday Services.
Our Sunday Services have a relaxed, contemporary feel, where we look at everyday issues according to the principles God has given us through the Bible. Our hope is that through being part of our Church, you will be inspired, equipped and challenged to live your faith in every part of your life.

Church History
Our Church history begins in 1985 when a group of 12 people got together, sharing a vision to start a church in Keilor.
The core group of 12 was charged with early planning and, on February 16, 1986, we held our first service at Keilor Downs Secondary College as Keilor Baptist Church. In those days we referred to ourselves as the 'suitcase church' because each week we'd set up in the hall, then painstakingly pack up everything after services.
We were officially constituted on September 13, 1987, with 20 regular members and 120 guests on the inaugural day. In the following years, we had regular attendances of up to 120. In those early days, Rev Lindsay Smith from Rowville was a great help and was instrumental in acquiring land, with the plans in the pipeline to begin construction of our own church building.
After much hard work in raising funds for the new building, and involvement in many working bees, the day came on May 28, 2000, when our vision for our own place came to fruition.
Our church building was built at 350 Calder Park Drive and since then we've watched the church continue to grow, meeting the spiritual needs.of more and more people.
